History of the Internet

The internet was being developed during the Cold war in the 1950’s. At the time the U.S. Department of Defense needed a secure computer network and researchers were developing a away for different computers to communicate with each other, the Internet solved both these issues. The Internet came from a government funded project called ARPNET, or Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. While there were several people to work on the project two men, Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn, are considered the “fathers of the Internet.” These men developed the communications protocols called TCP/IP protocol that allows different computers to communicate with each other. In 1991 Tim Berner-Lee a physicist at CERN, with Robert Cailiau, developed the first web browser.
